Autonomous Status and Academic Autonomy
Apex College, Makrana has been granted the status of an Autonomous Institution by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in September 2024. The University thereafter conferred and recognized the autonomous status of the institution, and the formal notification permitting the institution to function as an autonomous college was issued in April 2026. The conferment and functioning of autonomous status are governed by the provisions of the UGC (Conferment of Autonomous Status upon Colleges and Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Autonomous Colleges) Regulations, 2023, along with the applicable provisions of the affiliating University Act, Statutes, Ordinances, and Regulations.
By virtue of the autonomous status granted to the institution, Apex College, Makrana is empowered to exercise academic, administrative, and operational autonomy. The institution may design, revise, and restructure its own curriculum and syllabus through its competent statutory bodies, including the Board of Studies and Academic Council, in accordance with UGC norms and applicable regulations. The institution may also introduce innovative academic programmes, adopt suitable teaching-learning methods, frame internal assessment mechanisms, conduct examinations, and evaluate student performance as per the provisions applicable to autonomous colleges.
The degrees shall continue to be awarded by the affiliating University in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions, while the academic framework, curriculum development, examination processes, and quality enhancement initiatives shall be undertaken by the autonomous institution within the scope of autonomy granted by UGC.
